Manistee County Library is conducting a fine forgiveness event.  Anyone can call or come into the library until Saturday, June 3rd to have the fines currently on their card forgiven.  Any material returned during this even will not be fined.  The forgiveness event is for overdue fines only.  Charges for lost or damaged books still have to be paid, but payment plans are available.

 

Graduation is today at 7:30 p.m.

 

There is no school on Monday.

 

The elementary spring concert is Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

 

Student Council speeches and election is Thursday beginning at 1:40 p.m.

 

Your yearbooks are on sale for $35 until Friday, June 2nd.  You can order online or pick up an order form in the office.  Order forms along with payment need to be returned to Ms. Leinaar by June 2nd.

The 3rd grade class will return from White Pine Village at 2:40 p.m.

 

The 4th/5th grades will return from the Legacy Art Park at 2:40 p.m.

 

Preschool graduation is today at 10:00 a.m.

Laker Sports

 

The softball team defeated Marion 9-4 and 17-3.  Abby Cross was 6-7 with 1 triple, 1 double, 1 homerun, 6 RBIs, 7 runs, and 4 stolen bases, Hayley May was 2-4 with 1 triple, 2 RBIs, 1 run, and 1 stolen base, and Alyssa Eisenlohr was 2-6 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs, and 4 stolen bases.

 

The golf team had their lowest team score of the season for 9 holes last night with 202.  Top scorers was Trevor Pargeon with career best 43, Yuki Babinec 47, and Kyle Fink, Jonah Hengy, and Tai Babinec in the 50s.

 

The soccer team lost to Ogemaw Heights 0-1. 

 

The baseball team lost to Benzie Central in game one 0-1 and tied in game two 5-5.. 

 

The softball team travels to Brethren.  Game time is 4:30 p.m.; the bus leaves at 2:45 p.m.  Athletes will be excused from class at 2:30 p.m.

The 2nd grade class will return from Sandcastles Children’s Museum at 2:15 p.m.

The baseball team won the TC Christian tournament.  They defeated Newberry 3-1 in game one and then defeated TC Christian 7-2 in the championship game.

The middle school track team travels to Frankfort.  Events start at 4:00 p.m.; the bus leaves at 2:30 p.m.  Athletes will be excused from class at 2:15 p.m.

Congratulations to Amber Brave Bull, Kaitlynn Omar, Todd Merrill, Josh Feyers, and Avery Mullet for receiving certification as Skywarn Storm Spotters by the National Weather Service at Sleeping Bear Dunes in Empire last night.  They are now registered with the NWS as active severe weather spotters in the region for three years.

 

Please return your borrowed dress, shoes and jewelry from the Prom Boutique to the high school office.

 

There will be a high school dance today to wish the seniors and foreign exchange students farewell from 8:30 – 11:30 p.m. on the stage.  Seniors and exchange students are free of charge, $5 for everyone else.

Tomorrow is Hat Day.  Pay $1 and wear a hat.  All proceeds go to Relay for Life for American Cancer Society.

The softball team defeated Grand Traverse Academy in game one 4-3 and lost to them in game two 12-26.  Jenna Cross was 3-6 with 2 RBIs, 3 runs, and 1 stolen base, Lili Brown was 2-5 with 1 double, 3 RBIs, 2 runs, and 1 stolen base, and Shaely Waller was 1-4 with 1 triple, 1 RBI, 2 runs, and 1 stolen base. 

 

The golf team finished sixth place at the Invitational.  Top scorers were Yuki Babinec with 104 and Tai Babinec with 117.

 

The baseball team hosts Glen Lake.  Game time is 4:15 p.m.

 

The softball team travels to Lake Leelanau St. Mary’s.  Game time is 4:00 p.m.; the bus leaves at 2:00 p.m.  Athletes will be excused from class at 1:45 p.m.

The seniors come home from their trip tonight.

 

The Science Fair for grades K-3 will be held tomorrow from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. in the science lab.

 

The 4th grade class travels to Magoon Creek on Wednesday.  They will be gone from 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
