NHS applications are due to Mrs. Pargeon by the end of the day tomorrow.

 

Attention sophomores and juniors:  If you currently aren’t taking Duel Enrollment classes and want to next year, please apply on-line at West Shore Community College and then e-mail Mr. Grahl by tomorrow to set up testing on March 10th.

 

Singers between the ages of 7 and 18 are invited to pick up a flyer in the high school office for the Manistee Benzie Area Children’s Chorus.  They sing a variety of music from near and far, movie and musical themes and even in other languages.  Join experienced singers in making music their own.

 

There are the following Bear Lake/Brethren T-shirts with the American flag on them to support veterans.  Cost is $10 with all the proceeds going to the VFW: 1 medium, 2 large, 2 XL, and 4 XXL.

The JV and Varsity girls basketball teams travel to Walkerville.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.; the bus leaves at 3:45 p.m.

Congratulations to the Bear Lake Robotics team for working over 40 hours over the weekend and until midnight last night to complete the 2017 robot.  They are ready to compete at St. Joseph on March 10th and 11th.

The Varsity girls basketball team defeated TC Bulldogs last night by a score of 58-36.  Leading the Lady Lakers were: Abby Cross with 16 points and 8 steals, Yuki Babinec and Mariah Beaver both with 12 points, and Emily Belinsky with points.

 

There is a high school football meeting today at 12:00 p.m. in Mr. Proke’s room.

The Varsity boys basketball team defeated Brethren 60-36 and TC Christian 81-34.  Kaiden Hejl 46 points, 6 rebounds, 8 steals, 13 assists, and 3 blocks, Gary McBride had 29 points, 21 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assists, Trent Johnson had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals, and 2 assists, Joeb Reed had 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 steals, and Trey Gilbert with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals, and 12 assists.

 

The JV boys basketball team lost to Brethren 23-40 and defeated TC Bulldogs 56-31.  Reagan Merrill had 39 points, 25 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 blocks, Nate King with 11 points, 5 steals, and 4 assists, Kyle Fink had 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, Zach Belinsky had 7 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 steals, and Tai Babinec had 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assist.

The Varsity girls basketball team defeated Pentwater last night by a score of 47-34.  Leading the Lady Lakers were: Mariah Beaver with 25 points and 10 rebounds, Emily Belinsky with 9 points, and Yuki Babinec with 7 points.

 

The JV girls basketball team also defeated Pentwater 43-30.  Leading scorers were Julie Schmidt with 23 points, Faith Kidd with 10 points, and Alyssa Eisenlohr with 8 points.

 

The JV and Varsity boys basketball teams travel to Brethren.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.; the bus leaves at 4:50 p.m.  The Brethren Student Council is having a toiletry drive to generate items for the community.  Everyone who brings in an item will get $2 off their entry fee into the game.  Cost for students will be $1 and adults will be $3.

 

The hockey team competes in the League Tournament in Petoskey today and tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.

 

The middle school girls basketball teams host the WMD Tournament tomorrow.  Game time is 10:00 a.m.

 

The JV boys basketball team hosts TC Bulldogs on Monday while the Varsity team takes on TC Christian.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.

Auditions for Cinderella: Broadway Edition is tonight in the Band Room at Onekama School.  Auditions are open to students in grades 4-12.  Chorus auditions are 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. and Principal auditions are 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  If you are unable to make it, please see Mrs. Harthun.

 

The 4th grade class will return from their snowshoe trip at 2:45 p.m.

The JV boys basketball team defeated Big Rapids Crossroads 48-10.  Reagan Merrill had 14 points and 4 rebounds, Zach Belinsky had 11 points, 14 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists, Clark May had 7 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists, Kyle Fink had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 assists, Nate King had 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists, Tai Babinec had 3 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists, and John Evans had 2 points and 9 rebounds.

The JV girls basketball team also lost to Brethren 30-34.  Leading scorers Faith Kidd with 13 points, Julie Schmidt with 7 points, and Mariah McLouth with 6 points.

The Varsity Lady Lakers defeated Big Rapids Crossroads last night by a score of 53-21.  Leading the Lakers were Hayley May with 18 points, Wren Gilbert with 12 points, Yuki Babinec with 11 points, and Mariah Beaver had 7 steals. 

 

The JV and Varsity boy’s basketball teams travel to MCE.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.; the bus leaves at 4:00 p.m.

The 3 on 3 tourney early entry deadline is today, saving your team $20; after that the price is $100.
