After School Snack

As part of the National School Lunch Program, Bear Lake School is providing an after school snack.  There has been some confusion as to who may get a snack.  USDA regulations require students to be enrolled in an after school enrichment program and eat their snack in the lunchroom before going to their program.  The purpose of the program is to provide students a snack that will satisfy their hunger until they get home for dinner.  Students may not “grab and go” either to walk home, ride the bus after school or waiting for a parent to pick them up.   All students are eligible for a free after school snack provided they are enrolled in an after school enrichment program and they must eat in the school lunchroom.   If your student is staying after school for tutoring, athletics, quiz bowl, Science Olympiad, etc. please encourage them to take advantage of the snack program.
