“There are so many ways to be brave in this world.  Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else.  Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.  But sometimes it doesn’t.  Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.  That is the sort of bravery I must have now.”  Students, please remember to fill out your guess to be entered in the drawing.

Congratulations to Dylan Ide and Alyssa Eisenlohr who both made it to the semi-final round of the You Be The Chemist competition in Ludington.  Dylan and Alyssa competed against seven other schools from three counties and survived five rounds of cuts and 38 questions on chemistry.  They were within one correct answer of advancing to the state finals.  Bear Lake was the only school represented from Manistee County.  Many thanks also to Sarah Feyers and Jozsias Szarka for all their hours spent after school helping teach Dylan and Alyssa.  This is the second year in a row that Bear Lake has advanced to the semi-final round.
