The Robotics team finished 3rd out of 40 teams after the qualifying rounds in the Traverse City District Championship event on Saturday. This qualified the team to select two other team alliances to compete in the championship rounds. After splitting the first two matches they lost the third in the quarterfinals. The team was selected by the event judges for the “Innovation in Control” Award for the robot design. The team received a trophy and plaque. Testing begins tomorrow. The juniors will be taking the SAT in the library and the 8th grade will be taking the PSAT in Ms. Jonson’s room between 1st – 3rd hours. The bells will be turned off and the library will be closed during this time. There is a blood drive at the Methodist Church tomorrow from 2:00 – 6:30 p.m. *Laker Sports* The soccer team defeated Ogemaw Heights 3-1. The 5th grade boy’s basketball team finished in 3rd place at the MCC Basketball Tournament. They defeated Onekama on Friday 34-22 and Frankfort 18-14 on Saturday. They lost to Mason Country Central 5-17 on Saturday and Frankfort 17-18 on Sunday. Grady Harless had 26 points, Myles Harless had 16 points, Easton Nowak had 14 points, Spencer Mallison had 6 points, Kaiden Worch had 4 points and Caleb Forward had 2 points. The boys had a great season and finished 10-2. Congratulations to the Varsity Girl’s Basketball team and Trey Gilbert. The girls were chosen for the Honorable Mention All-Academic Team while Trey was selected for the Second Team “Dream Team” for the Record Eagle. Middle school softball athletes may be excused from 6th hour class ten minutes early to change for practice.
