The 5th grade band recorder concert is tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the lower gym. The 1st grade class is walking down to the fire station tomorrow. They will be gone from 1:15-2:30 p.m. Parent/Teacher Conferences are Thursday from 1:30 – 4:20 p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Students will be excused from class at 12:50 p.m. October is College Month! Students and staff are encouraged to wear college t-shirts or sweatshirts every Friday. Today’s college trivia question is: STEM refers to what academic disciplines? The College Fair at West Shore Community College is today from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the recreation center. Over 30 colleges and universities will be attending this event, you should too! The 7th grade class will return from Grace Adventures on Wednesday. The Jostens rep will be here Thursday beginning at 11:30 a.m. to take ring orders and graduation orders. There are extra ring and graduation packets in the high school office. Looking for a part-time job? A Laker mom is looking for a responsible high school student to babysit her two children (1st grade and pre-school) on Fridays and Saturdays; about 17 combined hours at $15/hour. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Mallison. *Laker Sports* The Varsity volleyball team took 2nd place at the Brethren Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Lakers defeated Buckley 25-9 and 25-8, MCC 25-16 and 25-17, and Marion 25-22 and 25-8 in regular pool play, advancing them to the semi-finals where they defeated Brethren 25-20,23-25, 15-3 The team faced McBain in the finals and lost 7-25 and 15-25. Olivia Hejl had 33 assists, 15 aces, and 5 kills, Kaitlynn Omar had 21 kills, 3 aces, and 3 blocks, Shaely Waller had 9 kills and 6 digs, and Julie Schmidt had 2 kills, 7 aces, and 2 digs. Mariah McLouth had 8 kills, 5 aces, and 3 digs, Cosimo Holler had 6 kills, 9 aces, 2 digs, and 2 blocks, and Hailey Omar had 6 aces.
