The Quiz Bowl team is competing today at MCC for the League Tournament. The 3rd and 4th grade students are traveling to Sleeping Bear Dunes tomorrow for snowshoeing. The 6th grade and Senior Class are selling Little Caesar’s Pizza Kits until Tuesday, February 26th. *Laker Sports* The Varsity girl’s basketball team defeated MCC 42-38 and Pentwater 48-37. Leading the Lakers were Abby Cross with 37 points, Hayley May with 18 points, Kaitlynn Omar with 15 points, Cosima Holler with 6 points, and Julie Schmidt with 4 points. The JV girl’s basketball team lost to Pentwater 17-23. Kaitlyn Leiffers had 6 points, Kalissa Swanson and Taylor Sexton each had 4 points, and Bella Leffew had 2 points. The Varsity boy’s basketball team defeated Mesick 46-33. Trey Gilbert had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 5 assists, Jake Griffis had 7 points and 2 steals, Riccardo Girlanda had 6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, Bradley Novak had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, Clark May had 3 points, and Tai Babinec had 2 points. The JV boy’s basketball team lost to Mesick 35-47. Hunter Bentley had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals, Trevor Eisenlohr had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists, Nate Sanderson had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists, and Robby McLouth had 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. The hockey team defeated Sault Ste. Marie 7-0. Jonathan Adams had an assist. The 4th/5th grade basketball team won three games on Saturday. They defeated Pentwater’s 4th/5th grade 22-8, MCE’s 6th grade 22-8, and MCE’s 5th grade 22-8. There will be a college sports signing assembly today at 12:15 p.m. Congratulations to the 2019 Homecoming Court: Prince Fabian Aguilar, Princess Taylor Sexton, King Luca Leffew, and Queen Hayley May. The JV and Varsity boy’s basketball teams travel to Big Rapids Crossroads.
